I used to travel every week for work. It was never a struggle to pack, there was always a bag read; enough clothes, a laptop, a book, and a myriad of charging cables. Monday morning would arrive and I’d grab the bag and leave for the station. This week was the opposite. I was in Edinburgh for a couple of days and had no idea what to pack. I left home, only to realise I’d left my card behind.
My inability to pack was insignificant in comparison to the eye infection that I think I picked up on the outbound flight. By the time I made it to my hotel I looked like I’d been punched in the eye. What I thought was a mild onset of hay-fever, then a more sever bout of hay-fever turned out to be a full on eye infection. I spent the rest of the week counting the minutes between doses of eye drops. Not fun.
I’ve started to realise that I live in a world of personal digital complexity. I crave digital simplicity. Mush of the complexity comes from my efforts at self-hosting, but a lot of it comes from constant switching between tools or filing systems.
Caught up with the awesome Bryan Ross while in Edinburgh.
I’ve started documenting my efforts to read more Chinese in a mini series.
Plus Minus Next
- ➕ Weather has been great and we’ve spent a lot more time in the garden.
- ➖ Eye infection ruined the week.
- → Combine multiple Obsidian vaults, having multiple was a bad idea.
