Transit at The Cockpit

I went to see Transit at The Cockpit in London. It was excellent. And, on the off chance you read this before it finishes, you should go and see it.

“Transit is an award-winning, genre-bending investigation of identity, belonging and migration. Told through a series of vignettes utilising physical theatre, multilingual performance, poetry, dance, multimedia, practical lights and music, Transit delicately navigates the feeling of being ‘too foreign for here, too foreign for home.’”

The show is excellent, addressing migration from the perspective of the migrant. A couple of things stood out for me;

  • I have never been able to pass the ‘Life in the UK’ test.
  • I find myself curious about the history behind the passport.
  • The passage around the freedom of the migratory birds has stuck with me.
  • Those who choose to migrate, give up something. I don’t think I’ve ever fully appreciated that.

It was particularly special to see my friend Danlu performing on stage.
