I present these audio clips as a collection of sounds I heard in Beijing this winter. Recorded as voice notes on an iPhone they capture the ambient sound heard at different points during my trip. I didn’t aim to capture any specific sounds or situations, so what you hear is a fairly random sampling of sounds. The only trigger was my remembering to start recording.
When recording these, I didn’t know how they would turn out. But listening back to them I can place every single one. The sound takes me back to that specific moment. I can see the people, feel the motion of the subway cars, or picture the items on the isles in a supermarket.
