2026 Week 30

Published (permalink)

It took me most of the week to wash the camping gear. I’ve noticed that most people seem to clean their camping gear in-situ before backing up. I’ve even seen the odd portable vacuum cleaner being wheeled out. But I tend to favour unpacking everything when we get home, setting the tents up in the garden to clean them out, washing them and then setting them up again to dry. In amongst the cleaning of camping gear, my head has been spinning with ideas of things to do post-EMF. I’m feeling full of creative energy. On Friday I got to see Danlu performing in Transit at The Cockpit. We spent Saturday over with Mum and Dad.

Other things I managed this week:

  • mounted both laptops under the desk with a 3D printed rack
  • put my headphones through the laundry for the first time
  • upgraded Forgejo to v16 without issue
  • broke the lighting / heating at home by allowing zigbee2mqtt to generate 22GB of logs

Week in Pictures

Two sleeping bags put out to air in a garden, they are draped over two square garden tables, in the background overly exposed greenery indicates it's a sunny day

out to dry - I took advantage of the good weather to ensure camping stuff was clean and dry

A photo looking along the length of a piano keyboard, the closest keys are blurred, with the focal point of the image being a pair of hands playing the keys

composition - Oscar has been iterating on his composition, ‘Warhorse’

a young boy kneels at a coffee table in front of a sofa, pen in hand, colouring, on the floor behind him, a scattered collection of coloured pens, light from the windows off camera means the majority of the boys figure is silhouted against the bright background

early riser - woke up to find Ethan’s room empty, instead of sleeping in he’s been colouring most mornings

A lady holds up a phone towards a boy, on the screen the image of someone on a video call. The boy is kneeling on a kitchen work surface, in front of him a plant and mister.

video call - after handing Oscar a DECT phone at EMF I realised how pervasive video calling has become

A black ad white photo taken on Edgeware Road station, the sign indicates this is platform 3, a train in the platform stands empty, it's doors open

mind the gap - a rare trip into town, this time for a evening at the theatre

A young boy stands at a chalk board in a garden, he's holding a liquid chalk pen, on the board in front of him are his name, 早上好, and the letter E. He is drawing shapes underneath the writing

liquid chalk - great fun until you realise that it goes everywhere when you shake the pens

A young boy sits on a garden bench. Behind him, a wooden fence separates the patio area from dry looking grass, in the background another boy stands in the shadows, the boy in the foreground is holding up a book titled, 'this is happiness'.

this is happiess - I didn’t clock the title of the book until I was reviewing photos a week later
